• Advanced ArcGIS-centric modeling and design technology to support comprehensive water and sewer systems planning and management
BROOMFIELD, CO, Nov. 12, 2008 -- MWH Soft, a leading global provider of environmental and water resources applications software, has announced that the Fayetteville Public Works Commission (PWC), North Carolina, has adopted the company's industry-leading InfoWater Suite, InfoWater UDF and InfoSewer Suite software as its standard water and sewer network modeling, design and unidirectional flushing solution. The software will serve as the foundation for developing a comprehensive GIS-centric solution for operating and managing Fayetteville PWC's complex drinking water and sanitary sewer systems.
The selection underscores the value of the geocentric hydraulic infrastructure modeling and design solutions, that have made MWH Soft a market leader in North America. Among the reasons cited for the PWC's decision were the software's many powerful tools, comprehensive functionality, speed, ease of use, flexibility, and seamless ArcGIS (ESRI, Redlands, CA) integration.
Fayetteville PWC's numerous honors include eight consecutive Environmental Protection Agency Director's Awards for extra efforts in providing clean, safe drinking water and a national award from the Partnership for Safe Water. The enterprise provides water and sanitary sewer services to a population of more than 185,000 in the Fayetteville/Cumberland County area, including Hope Mills, Eastover, and Stedman. It also sells water to Hoke County, Ft. Bragg and the Town of Spring Lake.
PWC operates and maintains a complex hydraulic infrastructure system comprising more than 1,250 miles of water mains, 1,150 miles of gravity sewer mains and 52 miles of force sewer mains. MWH Soft programs will be deployed to develop detailed, accurate models of this system for use in optimizing capital planning and determining cost-effective system expansion and improvement strategies to accommodate the area's rapid population growth.
"As a long-term MWH Soft customer, we have been extremely pleased with both the capabilities and high functionality of its geospatial solutions and the impeccable support we have received from the company," said Dean Carter, System Modeling Technician for Fayetteville PWC. "We are standardizing on MWH Soft engineering GIS-centric technology because the products are very easy to learn and use, integrate seamlessly with our ArcGIS platform, and have the power to model and analyze extremely large and complex water and wastewater networks quickly and reliably. These tools make master planning fast, easy, cost-effective, and accurate, giving us more power to improve the operations, performance and integrity of our existing systems and plan the new facilities we need to accommodate rapid growth."
With direct support to geodatabases, the innovative network modeling and design technology of the MWH Soft geospatial water and sewer software family addresses every facet of utility infrastructure management, operation, and protection -- delivering the highest rate of return in the industry. Drawing on the most advanced hydraulic and water quality simulation and geospatial analysis technologies, the software effortlessly reads GIS datasets, corrects network topology problems and data flaws, extracts pertinent modeling information, and reliably constructs credible network models with astounding speed. Once models have been established, users can easily run and simulate various conditions, develop sound and reliable unidirectional flushing main cleaning programs, pinpoint system deficiencies, and determine the most cost-effective physical and operational improvements to achieve optimum performance and regulatory compliance while improving community relations.
Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D, MWH Soft's President and COO, said his company was deeply honored to expand its relationship with technology-savvy Fayetteville PWC. "We're committed to supporting their vital mission and helping them achieve new levels of productivity and efficiency by providing a full range of world-class, market-leading engineering GIS modeling and design solutions," he noted. "Our pioneering ArcGIS-centric solutions have a clear advantage in the marketplace, helping our progressive customers meet corporate strategic goals, raise quality standards, improve overall system performance and reliability, and forge closer ties with customers at maximum cost savings. We look forward to continuing to lead the way in advanced engineering GIS software applications for the global water and wastewater industries."
