• $36 million contract will restore facility capacity and upgrade systems to support relocation of U.S. forces from Okinawa
CAMBRIDGE, MA, June 16, 2008 -- CDM, the global consulting, engineering, construction, and operations firm, has been selected by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (Marianas) to design-build repairs and upgrades to the Apra Harbor wastewater treatment plant, Naval Base, Guam.
The project will restore the treatment plant to its original operational capability and design capacity of 4.3 million gallons per day (mgd), as well as upgrade process components and equipment to provide greater reliability and efficiency to meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agency treatment requirements. Work is expected to be complete by May 2010.
CDM will construct a new 9-mgd influent pump station, effluent filtration and ultraviolet disinfection systems, sludge pump station upgrades to primary and secondary clarifier systems, upgrades to the existing bio-towers and odor control system, as well as new effluent and plant water pumping stations. The project will also replace a major sewage lift station serving the base waterfront and improve the plant's reliability during major storms.
This project continues CDM's contribution to upgrading and expanding facilities and infrastructure on Guam to accommodate another 20,000 service members and their families, who are scheduled to relocate to Guam from Okinawa, Japan, in the near future.
Currently, CDM is building the new $35 million Andersen Air Force base exchange shopping center. The 184,000-square-foot center, which will be completed this fall, is being performed under contract to the Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment for the Army-Air Force Exchange Service. Andersen Air Force Base, the base of operations for the U.S. Air Force in the Pacific Rim, serves approximately 8,000 military, civilians, reservists, family members, and retired military personnel.
CDM is a consulting, engineering, construction, and operations firm delivering exceptional service to public and private clients worldwide.
