DENVER, CO, Oct. 27, 2008 -- Councils in two Florida cities -- Mary Esther and DeFuniak Springs -- recently unanimously voted to continue partnering with CH2M HILL OMI for a variety of water and wastewater operations and maintenance services.

The contracts were each renewed for another five years.

In Mary Esther, CH2M HILL OMI has operated and maintained the city's wastewater treatment plant since early 2003. New services added in 2005 include O&M of the collection and distribution system, four groundwater wells and 14 lift stations, as well as meter reading and spray field operations, which use reclaimed effluent for irrigation.

In DeFuniak Springs, CH2M HILL OMI people have taken care of the city's wastewater facility, five water wells and 40 lift stations since early 2003. The company maintains the 150-acre spray field site as well.

Both facilities operated by CH2M HILL OMI have earned several safety awards from the Florida Water & Pollution Control Operators Association. Last year, the DeFuniak Springs system also earned the Florida Water Environment Association First Place Safety Award in its category.

"We appreciate the opportunity to continue serving these outstanding Florida communities. I visited there this summer and saw first-hand the strong commitment our people have to safety, quality and service," says Elisa M. Speranza, president of CH2M HILL OMI. "Earning our clients' confidence for another five years is a source of pride for all of us."

Mary Esther is on the Gulf of Mexico and is home to about 4,000 residents. DeFuniak Springs is about 30 miles south of Alabama and has more than 15,000 residents. The two are among about a dozen Florida cities that have selected CH2M HILL OMI as their partner.

Clients in government and industry rely on the people of CH2M HILL OMI to provide a range of custom-tailored operations and maintenance solutions. The company's services include water and wastewater system optimization; contract O&M of water, wastewater and other utilities; and complete municipal operations, including administration, public works and community development.
