ALEXANDRIA, VA, Oct. 9, 2008 -- Chicago and surrounding area high school science teachers will be treated to the water quality training event of the year at the full-day, hands-on 14th annual WEFTeach workshop. The award-winning "train-the-trainer" program will be held Monday, October 20, 2008 from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago, Ill.
WEFTeach 2008 will invest in area schools by providing several hands-on water education programs including Sewer Science, a mobile classroom-sized wastewater treatment plant that challenges students to treat water to the same U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standards expected of municipalities and the Ten Day Water Environment Curriculum, a comprehensive curriculum on the water cycle, wastewater treatment, and its relevance to our water environment.
Presented in conjunction with WEFTEC®.08 -- the Water Environment Federation's 81st annual technical exhibition and conference -- WEFTeach is made possible through a partnership of corporations, water agencies, engineering consultants, non-profit community organizations, and caring individuals. The Coca-Cola Company and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago will be 2008 sponsors with the Illinois Water Environment Association and the Central States Water Environment Association acting as co-organizers of the training.
As the largest water quality event in North America and largest annual water quality exhibition in the world, WEFTEC.08 is expected to host more than 18,000 of the world's leading water quality experts and 1,000 companies featuring the latest in water quality technology. WEFTEC.08 will be held at McCormick Place from October 18-22, 2008.
