PALMYRA, NY, March 28, 2008 -- Garlock Sealing Technologies, a leader in fluid sealing technology for more than 100 years, recently completed construction of a new manufacturing and distribution facility in Houston, Texas. The 65,000-sq.-ft. plant will produce the company's metallic gasket products. To better support customers, Garlock has also expanded the distribution center with a broader selection of product lines.
"The plant it replaces was nearly twice as large, but only half as efficient," said Joe Boggan, vice president and general manager of Garlock Americas. "The new plant's open, flexible floor plan and full grid of electric and compressed air service allow us to configure our equipment and operations for optimum advantage."
The new plant provides 45,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space, 17,500 sq. ft. of space for receiving and shipping, and 7,500 sq. ft. of office space and employee areas. It features concrete tilt-wall construction, built four feet above grade to eliminate flooding and facilitate loading and unloading at its two shipping/receiving docks with levelers and one ramp dock to grade.
The air-conditioned facility also features high-intensity, metal-halide lighting and a high-capacity sprinkler system throughout the manufacturing and distribution areas.
Garlock Sealing Technologies, an EnPro Industries company, designs, manufactures and markets fluid sealing products worldwide.
