DENVER, CO, April 25, 2008 -- Council members for the Town of Prescott Valley, Ariz., have unanimously approved a new five-year contract with CH2M HILL OMI.
Building on 15 years of partnership, CH2M HILL OMI will continue to operate and maintain the Prescott Valley water system, the newly expanded 3.75-mgd wastewater treatment plant, a 250-mile collection system, and the reclaimed water and recharge system. The new contract was signed April 24 and takes effect July 1.
"We appreciate the excellent service that CH2M HILL OMI has provided to our community over the years, and we look forward to working with the team in the years to come," says Neil Wadsworth, utilities director for Prescott Valley.
Since 1993, the company has earned several safety and performance awards while serving a population of about 44,000 citizens. Most recently, CH2M HILL OMI last year earned the Arizona Water Pollution Control Association's Water System of the Year Award, the AWPCA Safety Award in Wastewater Treatment and Collections, and the AWPCA Supervisor of the Year Award.
In addition, CH2M HILL OMI supported the town's successful program to auction the rights to effluent that comes from the town's wastewater treatment plant. A pioneering effluent credit auction the town held last fall delivered $67 million in funding needed for new resources and ensures the viability of the town's water portfolio. CH2M HILL OMI's strong operations and maintenance of the reclaimed water and recharge system is essential in helping the town deliver the effluent to buyers. Recognized as one of the top water resource projects of 2007, the program was a "Water Deal of the Year" finalist in the Global Water Awards, sponsored by Global Water Intelligence.
