YARMOUTH, ME, April 2, 2008 -- Water/wastewater instrumentation manufacturer Fluid Imaging Technologies (Yarmouth, ME) has been named the New England Region Exporter of the Year by the United States Small Business Administration (SBA). The company's impressive growth during 2007, which triggered a 100% increase in staff and prompted a third move to a larger corporate headquarters, and its success in developing overseas markets for the FlowCAM® particle imaging and analysis technology were among the key reasons for earning the award, according to Maine SBA District Director Maurice Dubé.

"The U.S. Small Business Administration is proud to recognize Kent Peterson, CEO, of Fluid Imaging Technologies, as the SBA 2008 Small Business Exporter for the State of Maine and New England," said Dubé. "Fluid Imaging is a shining example of emerging growth technology excellence that is now a part of Maine's innovative, entrepreneurial spirit. Export revenues in excess of 50% is a testament to the strategic vision of Kent and his employees," added Dubé.

Founded in 1999 to develop practical applications for the patented optical technology developed by Fluid Imaging Technologies President Dr. Christian Sieracki, the company has established an impressive customer list of global organizations that includes the U.S. EPA, Massachusetts Water Resource Authority, Welch's Foods, the U.S. Naval Research Labs and Fortune 200 chemical companies, among many others.

Industrial process analysis, quality assurance, water/wastewater treatment and marine research are among key applications that take full advantage of the FlowCAM's advanced capabilities. The FlowCAM automatically takes hi-resolution, digital images of hundreds of particles and cells in seconds in real time and saves them in a library for review, analysis, and identification while simultaneously measuring each particle and cell using dozens of different parameters.
