STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Dec. 7, 2007 -- Each year the Stockholm Industry Water Award recognizes innovative corporate development of water and wastewater process technologies, contributions to environmental improvement through improved performance in production processes, new products and other significant contributions by businesses and industries that help improve the world water situation. The award stimulates business sector contributions to sustainable development in the water sector, and to minimized water consumption and pollution load on the environment.
The Stockholm Industry Water Award was established by the Stockholm Water Foundation in co-operation with the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.
Nominating Procedure
A company or organization can be nominated independently or by itself. The information on achievements in the nomination should be attested in written form by at least two well-informed and knowledgeable persons who are independent from the nominated candidate. Other supporting documents (annual reports, etc.) are welcome, though not required. The nomination text, not exceeding 10 pages, should describe the specific achievements of the candidate in a concise manner, e.g. data on resulting reduced discharges of pollutants, reduced water consumption and the improved environmental situation should be given. Costs of improvement and cost recovery could also be indicated. If required, the award committee will contact the nominee for further information. Nominations must be made in English.
