REDWOOD SHORES, CA, June 28, 2007 -- Oracle has announced that Yarra Valley Water, a water and sewage services provider in Australia, has selected Oracle® Utilities Customer Care and Billing (formerly SPL Customer Care & Billing) to help provide a reliable, scalable billing platform that will enable the company to deliver superior customer service to 1.5 million people in the Melbourne area.
In operation since 1995, Yarra Valley Water's legacy billing system grew too difficult and costly to upgrade and maintain over time. Coupled with changing customer demands, the legacy system could not easily accommodate changes in Yarra Valley Water's business, and persisting with it only increased business risk. The new billing system will be built on Oracle Utilities applications to deliver the scalability and flexibility required to assist Yarra Valley Water in updating its billing service and maintaining its high standards of quality customer care, now and into the future.
"Accelerating our customer service from 'good to great' is critical to our business," said Tony Kelly, Managing Director for Yarra Valley Water. "We selected Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing over other competing solutions because Oracle offered the flexibility, scalability and service our company requires to effectively meet the service standards demanded by our customers while remaining cost competitive."
Yarra Valley Water sought a commercial-off-the-shelf billing solution that would accommodate the company's specific needs withminimal customization, thereby reducing the costs associated with implementing and maintaining the system and lowering the total cost of ownership.
"We applaud Yarra Valley Water's efforts to take a leading position in the Australian water industry and in providing excellent customer service while protecting the environment," said Brett Roveda, Vice President of Asia-Pacific, Oracle Utilities Global Business Unit. "We are committed to working with Yarra Valley Water to help the company realize new efficiencies and cost savings through integrated systems and effectively managing valuable customer relationships."
