• SanAir announces trial program with GeneSystems of Bruz, France
POWHATAN, VA, May 16, 2007 -- SanAir Technologies Laboratory, Inc. announced today that it will conduct a trial program in environmental testing with Gene Systems of Bruz, France. The trial program will begin immediately and is designed to compare "qPCR" testing protocols with existing culture and DNA sequencing protocols in the identification of Legionella and bacteria in water.
"qPCR" refers to a method of environmental testing which amplifies DNA material in water, making more specific, precise and timely quantification/identification of water-borne materials possible.
"Water-borne environmental hazards are a growing problem in the U.S. and Europe," said Tom McGlynn, SanAir president, "and so we are both pleased and fortunate to begin this trial program with Gene Systems. It is a perfect fit with our mission of identifying and isolating potentially dangerous microorganisms in public places like shopping malls, hotels, hospitals and schools."
SanAir is working in coordination with Dr. Patrice Chablain, technical director, and Bertrand Coissac, product manager of GeneSystems in the trial program.
The testing is under the direction of Jack Keene, Dr.P.H., CBSP, technical manager and De-Wei Li, PhD, technical advisor for SanAir
SanAir plans to have the initial phase of the study completed by mid-June, 2007. Collecting samples for the program are Matt Freije, HC Information Resources of Carlsbad, CA, and Joseph Hannigan, Klenzoid Water Treatment of Conshohocken, PA.
Gene Systems is internationally recognized in the environmental testing field and offers qPCR testing equipment designed specifically for the water testing of Legionella and other bacteria.
SanAir is the leading testing laboratory in the United States offering DNA Sequencing as part of its Legionella testing protocol.
