• Event celebrates expansion of Canal Road water treatment plant
CHERRY HILL, NJ, May 21, 2007 -- New Jersey American Water is proud to announce a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Canal Road Water Treatment Plant, 700 Randolph Rd, Somerset, NJ.
The groundbreaking celebrates a $55 million expansion project that will increase the water production capabilities of Canal Road from 60 million gallons per day to 80 million gallons per day. Along with our Raritan- Millstone Water Treatment Plant, Canal Road is the primary source of potable water for our customers in the counties of Essex, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Somerset and Union. The expansion of Canal Road is in direct response to the increasing demands for potable drinking water in the towns served by the facility and will provide increased reliability for approximately 1.3 million people throughout 57 municipalities.
