While helping fill in as editor of WQP over the past few months, I have realized just how close-knit this sector is. And that perspective has only grown stronger as I read this year’s Young Pros nominations. Not only is there a lot of up-and-coming talent in the industry, but the people that nominated these young professionals are poised to help mentor them as they find their footing.
One of the questions we asked the 2022 Young Pros, as you will see in their questionnaires on the following pages, was what their advice would be to other novice professionals in the industry. A lot of their answers centered around similar themes: find something you are passionate about; do not be in such a hurry and take the time to learn; and it is ok to make mistakes – take those as learning opportunities.
Another thing I noticed was how vast their paths to this industry are. Some have loved water and been fascinated by it from a young age. Others came to the industry after dabbling in other professions and careers. Based off their responses to “where do you see the industry going in the future?”, it is clear these young pros recognize a plethora of challenges and opportunities and seem ready to help move the industry forward.
