The backflow preventer has a patented modular swing check design. It consists of two mechanically independent, spring loaded, swing-type check valve modules and a hydraulically dependent differential relief valve set in an FDA-approved epoxy coated ductile iron body. In operation, the check discs swing up and out of the flow path. This keeps head loss low and performance consistent at almost any expected rate of flow.
Individual top-access covers on each modular check unit simplifies service. Either check module can be removed and repaired or replaced, one at a time, without removing the entire assembly from the line. Servicing requires no special tools.
The Model RP is resistant to corrosion. The relief valve body is bronze and the sensing passage is hard piped to prevent damage from mishandling or vandalism. Four vertical test cocks featuring Apollo® ball valves speed routine testing. The complete assembly includes resilient wedge gate valves at the inlet and the outlet.
The backflow preventers handle supply pressures up to 175 psi and water temperatures from 33° to 140°F. Like all Conbraco backflow preventers, they are manufactured in ISO 9001 registered facilities in the USA.
Conbraco's Model RP is UL classified and approved to ASSE 1013 and FM standards. It is available in three configurations - straight, U and Z - for vertical or horizontal piping installations.
