INDIA, JAN 14, 2019 -- SUEZ has won two drinking water distribution and network management contracts in Udupi and Puttur, two cities in the state of Karnataka in southern India. These 12-year contracts, totaling 27 million euros, will ensure a continuous supply of drinking water to a population of 200,000.
The contracts are part of the investment program initiated in 2014 by the Indian government and the Asian Development Bank to guarantee the continuous distribution of drinking water for the cities of the State of Karnataka. These cities, including Udupi and Puttur, have experienced a sharp rise in population in recent years, which has created growing needs for drinking water and treatment infrastructure.
In Udupi, SUEZ will carry out the rehabilitation of the drinking water production plant and the modernization and rehabilitation of existing distribution networks and residential connections. The four-year project will be followed by an eight-year infrastructure operation and maintenance phase to ensure safe drinking water delivery 24/7 to residents. from the city of Udupi.
In Puttur, SUEZ will be responsible for the rehabilitation of the drinking water distribution system (pumping station, network, tanks, residential connections, meters, valves, etc.). The three-year construction phase will be followed by a nine-year infrastructure operation and maintenance period.
These two contracts aim to improve customer service through, among other things, the setting up of customer and call center agencies 24/7, the online payment of invoices, etc.
Henceforth, drinking water distribution contracts in India concern the supply of services to entire cities, as illustrated by the latest contracts won by SUEZ in Coimbatore, Davanagere, and today in Udupi and Puttur.
