VOORHEES, NJ, JULY 6, 2016 – American Water (NYSE: AWK), the nation’s largest publicly traded water and wastewaterutility company, has reached a milestone of 1 million active registered customers on the company’s 24-hour "My H2O Online" customer account management site, www.amwater.com/myh2o.
"American Water places a high value on providing exceptional customer service, so reaching this milestone of 1 million customers regularly using My H2O Online is a tremendous accomplishment," said Karla Olson Teasley, vice president and chief customer experience officer. "We want to make it easy for customers to do business with us, and we are gratified the efforts we have made in our self-service website are proving to be successful among our customers."
Customers in every American Water regulated service area have access to My H2O Online. It allows customers to take care of some of the most common reasons they contact the company, from requesting appointments for turning service on or off to managing their account, checking their balance and paying their bills. Customers with more than one property are also able to see all of their accounts at a glance.
Through My H2O Online, customers can also select to go paperless by enrolling in the company’s free paperless billing and automatic payment (also called Electronic Fund Transfer or EFT) programs. These eco-friendly options also help customers and the company save postage and paper costs.
In addition, My H2O Online also allows customers to make individual payments through a My H2O Online account using an electronic check with no service fee. Credit and debit card payments are also available but carry a nominal service charge from the company’s bill pay vendor.
"Any American Water customer can register for an online account and begin using that account today. All they need is the address of the property and the account number found on their most-recent billing statement," Teasley said.
Founded in 1886, American Water is the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company. Marking its 130th anniversary this year, the company employs more than 6,700 dedicated professionals who provide regulated and market-based drinking water, wastewater and other related services to an estimated 15 million people in 47 states and Ontario, Canada.
