PITTSBURGH, PA, May 11, 2010 -- Black Box Corporation, an industry-leading provider of voice communications, data infrastructure, and product solutions today announced that San Jose Water Company has selected PathSolutions' VoIP Monitor, implemented and supported by Black Box, to help manage and optimize its network.

Black Box has maintained San Jose Water Company's voice network, including its contact center, since 2009. Now, Black Box also will provide VoIP Monitor, which helps to give San Jose Water Company total visibility into their network. San Jose Water Company selected the PathSolutions application because it provided the broadest and deepest coverage for every link and device in its network. As an authorized partner of PathSolutions, Black Box was able to offer VoIP Monitor as part of its portfolio of communications solutions.

"Our partnership with PathSolutions helps to ensure that our clients' networks, like San Jose Water Company's, will perform better, and will be more cost effective and efficient. This saves organizations valuable resources that are normally expended to manage and troubleshoot network issues. San Jose Water Company saw the value of PathSolutions' monitoring applications and selected it to manage and optimize its network," commented Michael Laughlin, vice president, Black Box Network Services.

San Jose Water Company is an investor-owned public utility and is one of the largest and most technically sophisticated urban water systems in the United States. PathSolutions VoIP Monitor currently monitors its network of more than 150 devices and links. "We installed and deployed the VoIP Monitor on our network in less than 15 minutes, and right away, network issues were identified and fixes were recommended. This solution provided more information on the state of my network, providing wider coverage of all network ports as well as deeper visibility into each device and link, than any other solution I evaluated. Going forward, PathSolutions' VoIP Monitor frees up my networking engineering resources to focus on other things, such as ensuring optimal network performance," said Mark Keil, Information Systems Supervisor, Operations for San Jose Water.

Added Tim Titus, CTO of PathSolutions, "San Jose Water Company is an excellent example of the value that PathSolutions and Black Box's partnership delivers. Working together, we are able to improve the quality and manageability of every aspect of clients' networks."

Network performance monitoring is a component of Black Box Network Services' suite of service-based offerings. PathSolutions has been part of the Black Box portfolio since September 2009 when Black Box expanded its network performance monitoring offerings. These monitoring applications are available as a service, purchased as a license or a combination of both. They offer clients invaluable insight into their network performance, identifying and resolving issues almost immediately.
