“[We can now help] customers do things like proactive meter changeouts, monitoring for theft, monitoring for leaks, [and more]. With Temetra, utilities can take that information, identify those accounts with probable leaks, and within that same application, they can take action on that now by creating work orders in the system, and dispatch the information to someone working in the field in real-time.”
Today, Temetra supports Itron’s 60W, 100W, 100W+, and 500W ERTs. In 2020, the company plans to add services for gas metering and advanced data logging support for both water and gas utilities.
“Through [partners like] Cisco, we'll be able to integrate other data sources, such as data coming from an AMI network. That will give customers the flexibility to integrate hourly interval data, daily interval data and leak sensor information into the system,” Tucker said.
“[Next year] we're going to [expand] support for importing read data from other sources, such as our ChoiceConnect fixed network and our industrial IoT AMI networks. [We'll be able to pull in information from multiple sources, allowing end customers to view it in Temetra, so they'll have a single window to view all of that data.]”
According to Tucker, a solution like Temetra can be a step toward a utility’s migration to full automation.
“Even with a full AMI network deployment, you have areas that are just traditionally hard to read," he said. "With an AMR solution today, we can use Temetra to identify the meters that need to be checked, and even create a route now that you can send out for someone to go and collect those reads. Ultimately, with Temetra, the utility gains the benefit of optimized read collection as well as access to advanced functionality with a simple, easy to use solution that will help reduce operational costs.”
