AMR company RAMAR announced that the City of St. Louis, Mo., has selected RAMAR's 900 Series Automatic Meter Reading product line for automating the data collection of their commercial and industrial water meters.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Jan. 14, 2002 — AMR company RAMAR announced that the City of St. Louis, Mo., has selected RAMAR's 900 Series Automatic Meter Reading product line for automating the data collection of their commercial and industrial water meters.

The City of St. Louis' strategy called for a new generation AMR system that was scalable and built on an open system philosophy allowing them to use existing meters and meter reading equipment. The project called for 18,000 meter interface units to be installed over a two-year period.

Implementation began in the summer of 2001 and is scheduled for completion in September 2002. Midwest Meter is the RAMAR Authorized Business Partner for the project and is providing technical assistance to the City of St. Louis' installation personnel.

The City of St. Louis currently uses touch reads and a limited number of AMR units by another manufacturer. In evaluating proposals from several AMR providers, St. Louis chose RAMAR based on the strength of its proposed solution of an open and competitively priced system, designed to meet the future needs of the company. The new system will enable St. Louis to improve operating efficiencies, reduce meter-reading costs, and reduce reading and billing errors.

In choosing RAMAR, David A. Visintainer, City of St. Louis Water Commissioner said, "RAMAR demonstrated the initiative and technological expertise to deliver an AMR system within our timelines for this first phase implementation."

"We are extremely pleased that the City of St. Louis selected the 900 Series product line for their AMR needs. RAMAR prides itself on assisting utilities with improving their operating efficiencies and customer service," said Michael Ueland, Chief Operating Officer for AT RAMAR LLC.
