Motorola and Azteca Systems, Inc., Tuesday announced they have signed a strategic alliance agreement to deliver advanced information management solutions for city and county governments.

SCHAUMBURG, Ill., and SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, November 13, 2002 -- Motorola and Azteca Systems, Inc., Tuesday announced they have signed a strategic alliance agreement to deliver advanced information management solutions for city and county governments.

The agreement brings together Motorola's Customer Service Request (CSR) system, the company's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and 3-1-1 application for local government, and Azteca's local government focused Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Cityworks ®. These solutions, combined with a diverse professional services team capable of turnkey solution development and delivery, provide a comprehensive service request and work order management solution for local government entities.

"This relationship brings together the trusted leaders in Customer Relationship Management and Computerized Maintenance Management for local governments," stated Steve Reed, director of Motorola's Public Service Solutions Group. "Both company's products are optimized for local government business processes and offers a potential significant return on investment, and the synergies across the two products present even greater value to cities and counties."

Azteca's Cityworks application suite addresses all elements of infrastructure asset management including asset inventory, work order management, Government Accounting Standards Board Statement No. 34 (GASB 34) analysis and reporting, time tracking, activity based accounting, and warehouse management.

Cityworks reflects the domain experience developed through more than 100 successful implementations, and the substantial benefits of being fully integrated with ESRI®'s (Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc.) Geographic Information Systems (GIS) solutions. Cityworks is currently deployed in more than 100 communities including Houston, TX; Long Beach, CA; Jefferson County, AL; Washington, D.C., Edmond and Norman, OK.

Motorola's CSR system establishes a single point of contact for citizens to request government services and information, automatically routes service requests to the proper department and tracks those requests until they are resolved. Cities currently using Motorola's CSR system, include Akron, OH; Winston-Salem, NC; Baltimore, MD; Dallas and Houston, TX; and Chicago.

According to the arrangement, Motorola will market, implement and support Cityworks to city, county, state, provincial, and federal entities in the United States and Canada.

A comprehensive interface between Motorola's CSR and Cityworks will allow for the flow of data between the systems. Communities will be able to deploy a single application, CSR, in their call centers and leverage Cityworks' domain specific capabilities in infrastructure intensive departments and agencies such as Public Works, Streets and Sanitation, Water, Wastewater and Storm Water management, and Parks and Recreation.

"Cityworks is a focused solution that complements Motorola's enterprise customer relationship management by providing advanced asset, work order and inventory management within infrastructure intensive departments," said President and CEO of Azteca Systems, Inc., Brian Haslam. "Together, CSR and Cityworks provide an unparalleled solution for local governments and utilities, improving work flow management within the organization and overall customer satisfaction."

"Motorola and Azteca Systems are looking forward to a collaborative relationship resulting in superior solutions for local, provincial, state and federal government agencies and departments," states Steve Reed.
