Sacramento, Calif, May 9, 2001 -- Hansen Information Technologies announced today that the City of Santa Rosa, California has selected its Asset Management solution for the City's Utilities Department.

The new system will be used to manage the operation and maintenance of the City's water and wastewater networks and the customer service operations for the Department.

The total solution includes software licensing, project management, data conversion, and training.

Santa Rosa's Utilities Department is responsible for maintaining over 540 miles of water main connected to 5,100 hydrants, 20,000 valves, and 44,000 meters for its residential, commercial, and industrial customers. The city is currently delivering an average of 22 million gallons of drinking water and treating an average of 18 million gallons of wastewater each day at two wastewater treatment plants.

The new system will integrate the customer service, work order, preventive maintenance, parts inventory, purchasing, and resource planning functions while streamlining business processes and decision support within the department.

"Our selection of a vendor really began close to two years ago as we started to take a look at our own procedures and documenting what we would need a new system to do for us," said Bob Austin, Project Manager for Santa Rosa.

"Once an RFP was issued, we went through a fairly exhaustive evaluation of every vendor before we selected Hansen. They seemed to have everything in place to meet our short and long-term goals for the department."

The city's new system will be used by almost all of the Utilities Department's 200 employees and will give them the ability to manage the work activities and track customer calls full cycle, from initial contact to resolution of a problem. It is replacing a system that was developed and

maintained in-house over a number of years. The implementation of the new system will begin immediately and is to be completed in six months or less.
