Today, Bullhead City announced that it selected VertexOne, a national meter-to-cash provider, take takes over operation of the city’s local metering system.
This collaboration comes after the city was granted legal possession of its privatized water system in an eminent domain hearing. In a legal dispute between the city and its previous system owner, EPCOR USA, the city successfully argued that EPCOR's rate increase requests were unsustainable. The final ruling decided that the city would pay EPCOR $80 million for ownership of the water system.
Under this new contract, Bullhead City will continue using the metering services established by EPCOR USA, which already included numerous VertexOne products and enhanced electronic bill payments.
With the transition, Bullhead City’s 21,460 water and sewer customers will use modern customer self-serve functionality. City staff and end-customers will continue to have access to digital solutions for customer engagement, billing, payments and data analytics.
“VertexOne is thrilled to extend our previous work done with EPCOR USA and now embark upon a new partnership with the Bullhead City team as they navigate this whole process,” said VertexOne President and CEO Andrew Jornod. “This effort by the city is incredibly commendable and we look forward to supporting Bullhead City in meeting their long-term goals."
