• Equipment reduces operating costs, energy consumption
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, Dec. 1, 2008 -- Based on its recent analysis of the pulp and paper, water and wastewater treatment solutions market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Aeration Industries International Inc. with the 2008 North American Frost & Sullivan Product of the Year Award. The Aire-O2 Triton® was created from the company's unremitting efforts to design an energy- and cost-efficient wastewater treatment equipment and technology.
The Aire-O2 Triton® can mix and disperse oxygen in aeration basins and tanks at low energy levels and rotations per minute (RPMs). It achieves this by using a large engineered power mix propeller that provides subsurface injection of fine bubble-diffused air at great depths. This enhanced mixing and aeration process saves 50 to 55 percent more energy than conventional technologies. While increasing the efficiency of aeration, the Aire-O2 Triton® also eliminates the splashing and noise commonly associated with conventional surface aerators.
"Owing to the powerful mixing, the Aire-O2 Triton® also prevents sludge buildup at the bottom of tanks and basins, thus maximizing treatment efficiency and reducing the operational costs required to maintain the treatment process," says Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Eric Meliton. "Over the life cycle of the product, the Aire-O2 Triton® does not experience a reduction in operating efficiency and requires very little maintenance, thus allowing Aeration Industries to increase the product warranty to five years."
By regulating the oxygen input to the system independent of the mixing, the Aire-O2 Triton® has emerged as a powerful process equipment. The flexibility it imparts to the mixing and aeration process makes it suitable for a wide variety of process applications, including conventional biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), ammonia reduction, as well as full biological nutrient removal (BNR) for the treatment of phosphorus and total nitrogen.
The Aire-O2 Triton®'s unique design and compact size eliminates the need for huge capital expenditure and upfront installation, as well as facilitates its incorporation in both complex and simple wastewater treatment systems. It also allows the product to be used in a multitude of industry applications such as aerated lagoons, conventional activated sludge systems, aerobic digesters, oxidation ovals, and sequencing batch reactors.
To optimize sales, the company markets the Aire-O2 Triton® as a product that reduces energy consumption, addresses environmental concerns such as volatile organic compound (VOC) aeration, and improves corporate sustainability. The company will also gain immensely from the trend toward cost and energy savings in the pulp and paper industry, as the Aire-O2 Triton® delivers exceptionally on both fronts.
"Aeration Industries International Inc. continues to update and advance the design of their core technologies and equipment, including the Aire-O2 Triton®, to prevent reverse engineering of their products domestically and abroad," notes Meliton. "This continued effort will allow the company and this unique product to stay ahead of the competitors."
