CALIFORNIA -- Elemental Excelerator’s milestone 9th cohort adds 3 all-star water startups to the the global climate-tech accelerator's 117 company lineup.
This year, the growth-stage companies selected for Elemental’s 9th cohort not only solve urgent environmental and water challenges but also address equity & access and job creation . The 3 water startups were selected from more than 800 applicants from 54 countries for their promise to help municipalities reduce pollution and ensure clean drinking water, particularly in disadvantaged communities.
With 13 exits among its portfolio, Elemental has a history of spotting the next rising stars, which have included Zero Mass Water. These are the next 3 water up-and-comers:
Cambrian Innovation: helps companies extract resources like clean water and energy from wastewater streams for manufacturing or food and beverage production to eliminate water pollution while generating renewable assets
NEER: uses machine learning to identify leaks and predict failures in water, sewer, and stormwater collection systems by combining real-time modeling and predictive asset management into a single platform that is affordable for any small, medium, or large community
Transcend: accelerates the adoption of new and sustainable water treatment technologies by automating the preliminary engineering for water and wastewater facilities
Unlike other accelerators, Elemental funds "place-based" demonstration projects to benefit communities in California, Hawaii, and the Asia-Pacific that are underserved or underrepresented.
"Cohort 9 is our most diverse to date," the company stated in an official announcement."Half of the companies have a female founder. And nearly half have a founder who identifies as a person of color, with a third founded by someone who identifies as Black or indigenous. We know that when teams are more reflective of the communities and customers they serve, they are much more likely to achieve the equitable outcomes that are critical to solving climate change."
