DENVER, Dec. 11, 2007 -- More than 200 leaders from the water industry will gather in Albuquerque, New Mexico, January 27-29 to explore contaminant identification and treatment technology at the American Water Works Association's (AWWA) 2008 Inorganic Contaminants Workshop.

The workshop features three days of seminars and presentations by leading experts in the area of inorganic contaminants. Water quality, research, and treatment professionals will attend to discuss the latest on emerging contaminants, new techniques for treatment and analysis, new challenges and risk assessment. Highlights include:
• Over 40 presentations covering: nitrate and perchlorate, radionuclides, residuals, arsenic, iron and manganese and more.
• A half-day tour of the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority, which was heavily impacted by the new Arsenic Rule. Attendees will get an in-depth view of the new arsenic treatment system implemented in July 2007.
• Networking opportunities, including meet-and-greet receptions.
