ALEXANDRIA, VA, April 17, 2015 -- In an effort to support its integrated water program, the Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF) is currently requesting proposals for two new research projects.
The first project, "Economic Pathways and Partners for Use of Reclaimed Water and Harvesting Stormwater (SIWM8R14)," seeks to overcome pricing and economics barriers to utilization of alternative water sources, which could significantly advance knowledge and understanding, and could fundamentally transform how water resource recovery facilities and stormwater facilities operate.
Proposals should take research to the next level of completion, resulting in practical and implementable solutions for utilization of these resources. They are due no later than May 13, 2015.
The second project is a request for proposals for the "Toolbox for Completing an Alternatives Analysis as Part of an Integrated Planning Approach to Water Quality Compliance (SIWM9R14)." The product will evaluate tools, software, research reports, and other documents available to assist communities with implementing an Alternatives Analysis within Environmental Protection Agency's Integrated Planning Framework.
The project will also complete a gap analysis for what tools or information is needed for communities to be confident in making such permitting decisions. As part of an Alternatives Analysis, scenarios such as water quality trading agreements, green infrastructure strategies, and asset management should be considered and included. Proposals are due no later than May 20, 2015.
