Drinking water upgrade in Armenia awarded to Veolia in $200m project

YEREVAN, Armenia – Veolia Environnment’s subsidiary Veolia Djur has secured a 15-year project covering the upgrade and management of drinking water and wastewater services in Armenia.

Under the contract, Veolia will manage drinking water production of 174 million cubic meters a year, as well as wastewater treatment plants.

Over $200 million of investment towards the project will be provided by international financial institutions, such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, KFW Development Bank and the European Investment Bank.

Malika Ghendouri, VP of Central and Eastern Europe for Veolia, said the contract is “an affirmation of the relevance of our development strategy in Central and Eastern Europe, and further strengthens our lead position in the field of drinking water production and distribution”.
