Birmingham, Ala. American Cast Iron Pipe Company (ACIPCO) has been named to Fortune magazine's list of "The 100 Best Companies to Work for in America."
ACIPCO, ranked number 64 on the list, is the only pipe manufacturing company to ever receive the honor. This is the sixth time ACIPCO has been named and the fifth time that Fortune magazine has sponsored the national survey.
Best-selling authors Robert Levering and Milton Moscowitz, who wrote the book, The 100 Best Companies to Work for in America, compile the list for Fortune. ACIPCO was named in the 1993 edition of the book.

Fortune cited the unique medical and dental care for ACIPCO's employees, retirees, and their families as one of the outstanding attributes of the company.

Founded in 1905, ACIPCO is one of Birmingham's oldest companies and is the largest manufacturing employer in the city. It employs nearly 3,000 workers in 16 facilities in the United States. The company manufactures a diversified product line for the waterworks, capital goods and energy industries. Products manufactured in the company include ductile iron pipe and fittings, fire hydrants, valves, fire truck pumps, centrifugally cast steel tubes, static castings and fabricated assemblies, ERW steel pipe, and spiral-welded steel pipe.
