Stormwater Treatment System
Using patented continuous deflective separation technology, the CDS® system from CONTECH Stormwater Solutions effectively screens, separates and traps debris, sediment, and oil from stormwater runoff. The indirect screening capability of the system allows for 100% removal of floatables and neutrally buoyant material, without blinding. It is available in off-line, in-line, and grate inlet configurations. The design of the CDS in-line manhole provides more ways to receive stormwater in a single treatment unit. Its forebay arc of 170º allows it to receive a single pipe or multiple inlet pipes anywhere along the semicircle. If needed, the system can perform as a catch basin or drop inlet and receive flow from the rest of the drainage collection system — eliminating the need for additional structures. An oil baffle skirt surrounding the non-blocking screening process is integral to the wide arc inlet design and traps oil and grease. It separates previously captured oil and grease from high bypass flows, preventing scour and possible re-entrainment.

Camera Accessories
The patented QuickView pipeline zoom camera from EnviroSight now allows municipalities, contractors and engineers to inspect a broader range of underground infrastructure, and to capture and display video at higher resolution. An extended targeting leg allows the camera to inspect drop lines with precision and stability. This carbon-fiber attachment lets an operator vary camera height up to five feet. The extended targeting leg can be ordered with a new system, or as a retrofit to existing systems. Pole extensions are also available, allowing the system to inspect manholes as deep as 48 feet. A 6-foot carbon fiber extension is available, as is a segmented fiberglass extension that adds 6 to 18 feet of depth. These extensions are available for all QuickViews that have a telescoping carbon-fiber pole. In addition, the targeting leg has been repositioned to be coplanar with the camera's view axis, enabling better positioning in small lines and access areas, and rendering the system less prone to slipping on uneven surfaces.

Nutrient Removal
Blue Water Technologies has expanded its Blue PRO® wastewater nutrient removal product line with Blue NITE™ for denitrification. The denitrification process is accomplished in a Centra-flo™ continuous backwash, upflow sand filter by growing fixed-film, heterotrophic, denitrifying bacteria within the filter. Water is dosed with a carbon source as it enters the Centra-flo filter. The water passes upward through the filter media, where nitrate is converted to atmospheric nitrogen (N2) by the bacteria. A portion of filtrate passes through a sand washer, carrying contaminants and excess bacteria with it. The washer separates solids, which are directed to a reject line. The clean sand then falls by gravity back to the media bed. Blue NITE may be run concurrently with Blue Water's Blue PRO process for 90% or greater removal of phosphorus, achieving total nutrient reduction in the same vessel.

High-Performance Pipe
Advanced Drainage Systems Inc. (ADS) has added N-12 HP (High Performance) pipe to its current family of N-12 pipe products. N-12 HP features highly engineered triple-wall construction. Its smooth exterior wall design supported by a corrugated structural core provides for improved stiffness and greater beam strength to minimize deflection and shed point load while also providing enhanced jobsite durability and easier backfill installation. N-12 HP's smooth interior wall incorporates a dual banded, extended bell and a spigot with two gaskets for added safety. The product will be available in diameters up to 60" (1,500 mm). Its standard length will be 20" (6.096 m), with shorter lengths available for trench box and deep burial installations. N-12 HP will be commercially available through the company's nationwide distribution network in early 2009.

High-Efficiency Aeration
Hydrotech Limited, in association with Weston Solutions Inc., offers the Jet Streamer™, a patented jet propulsion, micro-bubble aerator. The Jet Streamer works efficiently and inexpensively by releasing billions of 10- to 20-micron- sized bubbles, which provide exponentially greater bubble surface area, and therefore oxygen transfer. Depending on water depth and basin shape, the system entrains 20 to 100 times more water than a typical aerator and mixes it with oxygen- enriched water, air and (optionally) ozone to significantly reduce pollutants, including nutrients, bacteria, low dissolved oxygen and algae. It uses as little as 5% of the electricity consumed by typical aeration systems, making it both economical and environmentally friendly. The aerator can also operate on solar power. The system is extensively used in fresh, salt and brackish bodies of water of all sizes, and can operate from a floating barge or be submerged with land-based connections. Operation is quiet and with no moving parts underwater.

Silt Fence Installer
The Ditch Witch® organization has released a silt fence installer that utilizes a vibratory plow — not a static plow — to install the fence. The vibratory plowing method has been used for decades to bury cable and small-diameter pipe with minimal turf disturbance and no backfill. Using this method to install silt fence results in faster installation and a fence with longer-lasting integrity. Self-Cleaning Filters
Miller-Leaman Inc. offers its automatic, self-cleaning Turbo-Disc Filter systems, suitable for applications including reuse water for irrigation and industrial applications, pre-filtration for membranes, stormwater, cooling tower water, well water, surface water, and other environmental applications. Field Assessment User Manuals
