ST. PAUL, MN, Jan. 3, 2011 -- The Community and Economic Development Team at engineering firm Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. (SEH®) is alerting communities to a funding assistance program for wastewater system improvements projects. Administered jointly by the Minnesota Public Facilities Authority (PFA) and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), the Clean Water Revolving Fund provides below-market-rate loans to finance wastewater treatment projects that help communities comply with Clean Water Act discharge standards.
"These types of municipal projects are often the most expensive a community will undertake," SEH Sr. Community Development Specialist Heidi Peper said. "This makes applying for funding assistance critical to their successful implementation."
To be eligible for the PFA low-interest loan program for a wastewater project, applicants must have a wastewater treatment facility plan submitted to the MPCA by March 4, 2011. Additionally, projects must be on the MPCA Project Priority List (request due to MPCA by March 4, 2011) and the Intended Use Plan (request due to PFA by early June 2011). These plans can take several months to complete, so interested parties should contact SEH immediately for assistance.
