• City's focus on sustainability leads to contract with CH2M HILL
DENVER, CO, Aug. 28, 2008 - CH2M HILL, a global full-service engineering, construction and operations firm, has been selected by Metro Vancouver to perform planning and conceptual engineering for the Iona Island Wastewater Treatment Plant in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Vancouver, one of the world's most livable cities, chose CH2M HILL because of the firm's commitment to sustainability, technical leadership, and its global experience in wastewater treatment.
As prime consultant, CH2M HILL will develop plans for upgrading the Iona Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. Enhancements will examine beneficial reuse of solid and liquid effluent byproducts, energy conservation and reuse, and community access to educational and environmental features of the site and surrounding area.
"We understand the emphasis the city places on sustainability. The upgrades and enhancements to this facility will help to secure Metro Vancouver reliable and sustainable wastewater treatment for the next 100 years," said Norm Huggins, Project Director for CH2M HILL.
In addition to planning and conceptual engineering, the CAN $3.5 million Iona Island study, with a scheduled completion date of 2020, will also address new building regulations that take into consideration the seismic activity in the project's area.
Headquartered in Denver, Colo., employee-owned CH2M HILL is a global leader in engineering, procurement, construction, management and operations for government, civil, industrial and energy clients.
