CA water district improves customer service, billing with new CIS system

Padre Dam Municipal Water District  completed its implementation of CIS Infinity offered by Advanced Utility Systems.

SANTEE, CA, and TORONTO, ON, Feb, 13, 2014 -- Padre Dam Municipal Water District (the District) in Santee, Calif., recently completed its implementation of CIS Infinity, the customer information and billing solution (CIS) offered by Advanced Utility Systems, a division of N. Harris Computer Corporation (Advanced).

The District's legacy CIS was custom-written in an outdated language over 10 years ago and could no longer be supported. The system was antiquated, forcing the District to employ an elaborate system of checks and balances as well as several manual, paper-heavy processes for task and work completion.

In addition to implementing CIS Infinity, the District installed Infinity.Mobile, which reduces paperwork and increases accuracy of the service order process through an easy-to-use web-based dispatch application.

"With substantial limitations in our legacy CIS and significant improvements in utility billing technology that were available on the market, the software replacement project was deemed necessary so we could improve our mission-critical, day-to-day utility billing services," said Laura Evans, customer service manager. "We also wanted to ensure these services could be provided in an efficient, reliable and cost-effective manner."

Peter Fanous, executive vice president of Advanced, added, "Efficiency and first-rate service are high priorities for the District. They continually seek new ways to reduce cost, streamline workflow processes, improve customer service, and ensure accuracy. One major way they are accomplishing these goals is by taking advantage of proven solutions such as CIS Infinity."

Padre Dam provides water, wastewater, recycled water, and recreation services to 100,000 residents in the San Diego suburbs of Santee, El Cajon, Lakeside, Flinn Springs, Harbison Canyon, Blossom Valley, Alpine, Dehesa, and Crest. The District is a public agency with policies and procedures directed by an elected five-member board of directors.
