CONCORD, NH, June 4, 2012 -- The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (DES) has announced the solicitation of pre-applications for wastewater, stormwater, and nonpoint source projects through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) program.

The CWSRF is a low-interest loan program to assist communities with the planning, design, and construction of eligible water pollution control infrastructure projects. Borrowers are typically municipal or other local government entities. Most communities with publicly owned wastewater systems or unlined landfills are eligible to apply for a loan to improve their wastewater system or close their landfill. Projects that address stormwater or nonpoint source pollution problems may also be eligible.

DES is holding a "Clean Water State Revolving Fund Informational Meeting" on June 15, 2012 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The purpose of this meeting is to educate potential loan applicants about funding projects through the CWSRF loan program. The meeting will include an overview of the loan program as well as specifics on eligibility requirements, ranking criteria, loan conditions, and application procedures.

The meeting will be held in the DES Auditorium located at 29 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH. There is no cost to attend, but please RSVP by June 8, 2012. To RSVP, please contact Laura Weit-Marcum at (603) 271-3307 or [email protected].

Since the need for CWSRF project funding in NH far exceeds the financing available, DES has developed a ranking system to prioritize projects for the most efficient use of available funds. The criteria used to evaluate and rank pre-applications for wastewater projects can be found here and criteria for stormwater and nonpoint source projects can be found here.

To apply, applicants must complete and return the "Pre-Application for the Clean Water State Revolving Fund 2012 Loan Funds" to Dan Fenno at [email protected] by 4:00 pm on July 20, 2012. The pre-application can be found online here.
