PARSIPPANY, NJ, March 13, 2006 -- The Hydraulic Institute is pleased to offer an opportunity for our members -- and other interested parties -- to earn recognition as DOE Qualified Pumping System Specialists by participating in the next Pumping System Assessment Tool (PSAT) Specialist Qualification Workshop.
This three-day workshop will be held April 11-13 at the McMenamins Kennedy School in Portland, OR, and includes a group hands-on pumping system measurement exercise and a written exam at the conclusion of the class. Those passing the exam will receive a certificate and will be listed on the U.S. Department of Energy's BestPractices website for its Industrial Technologies Program.
This training is being offered by Cowlitz Public Utilities Department, Bonneville Power Administration, DOE, Hydraulic Institute, Industrial Efficiency Alliance and Washington State University Energy Program.
PSAT assists engineers and facility operators in conducting preliminary assessments of how efficiently their pumping systems operate and identifying priority targets for energy cost reduction. "Pump Systems Matter" sponsors should be particularly interested in this training and qualifying members of their staff in the use of the PSAT tool.
