NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nevada, May 18, 2010 -- The City of North Las Vegas and CNLV Constructors II (a joint venture with CH2M HILL and NEW-COM Inc.) held an open house today to highlight progress on the City's new water reclamation facility. The state-of-the-art water reclamation facility will provide reclaimed water for turf irrigation and for return flow credits to Lake Mead. The facility will meet stringent wastewater effluent requirements with innovative technology resulting in the highest quality effluent, prevent odors and maximize the use of modern automation. The facility will be capable of treating up to 25 million gallons of wastewater per day with a future expansion of up to 50 million gallons per day.

The projected $240 million facility is ahead of schedule and under budget, expected to be operational by May 2011.

"Construction of the facility has provided some stability in our struggling economy," North Las Vegas Mayor Shari Buck said. "It has created 500 jobs locally and is generating business that reverberates across the country by the type of supplies and technology it takes to make this a state-of-the-art facility."

From California to Kansas to Massachusetts, more than 800 people across America have been put to work providing materials and equipment for this landmark project.

The City's Utilities Department is the first in the state to use the construction manager at risk form of contract. This contract allowed the City to partner with the joint venture contractor, CNLV Constructors II, comprised of CH2MHILL, NEWCOM Inc., for cost-effective and timely completion.

The facility is located on 40-acres near the intersection of Betty Lane and Carey Lane on leased land from Nellis Air Force Base.
