UNION CITY, California, May 6, 2010 -- Advanced clean water treatment technology supplier Microvi Biotech (Microvi) has entered into a three-year commercial contract with Clean TeQ, an Australian company that focusses on supplying air purification solutions.
Under the terms of this agreement, Clean TeQ has exclusive rights in Australia to use Microvi’s clean water technologies for the treatment of nitrogenous compounds in groundwater and wastewater.
Fatemeh Shirazi, CEO and founder of Microvi, said: “Nitrogenous compounds in drinking water continue to pose a serious health risk, yet traditional treatments are too expensive. They also create by-products that degrade the environment and are difficult to remove."
Greg Toll, CEO of Clean TeQ, added: “Dozens of Australian groundwater sources are contaminated with nitrates and the Clean TeQ/Microvi solution is a simple and highly effective way to make this water conform to Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
"We plan to provide this solution to the remote communities of Australia. Clean TeQ expects that this technology can contribute to the improvement in the quality of hundreds of gigalitres of additional water that can contribute to the “environmental” flow of the Murray-Darling basin. The technology can also be used to materially reduce the harm that nitrogenous compounds are causing to environmentally sensitive areas such as the Great Barrier Reef.”
