YORK, PA, JULY 25, 2017 -- Buchart Horn water resources specialist Deepthi Kalyanam, PE, recently received the Pennsylvania Water Environment Association (PWEA) Golden Manhole Society Award in honor of her "extraordinary personal service to the association, while working to promote wastewater collection system understanding, operation and maintenance, training and continuing education."
The presentation took place at the PWEA Annual Awards Banquet. Kalyanam, who works out of Buchart Horn's York, Penn., headquarters, has nearly 10 years' experience in management of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including planning, permitting, design, construction administration, and project financing.
"She is an exceptional individual who strives to learn and achieve more," said Brian Funkhouser, Buchart Horn president and CEO. "This award recognizes her for her accomplishments related to design and operations and maintenance of wastewater collection systems and the importance of these collection and conveyance systems in keeping our environment safe and healthy. According to PWEA, Golden Manhole Society Award recipients have "distinguished themselves through their efforts, contributions, and promotion of the Association and its programs, relative to wastewater collection systems," and have put forth "outstanding efforts in the area of wastewater collection system evaluation and rehabilitation."
Kalyanam earned her master's degree in water resources and environmental engineering from Villanova University and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from India. She recently passed the state of Maryland's professional engineering exam and now holds the title Licensed Professional Engineer. She is also an active member of the PWEA collection system committee.
